Why “Shotline Advisory”

Anyone who’s ever tried to name a company knows how hard it is to find something simple, meaningful, and original. I scuba dive in my spare time, and a shotline is one of the most useful bits of kit you can have underwater. It’s a line that runs from a point on the surface down to the dive site.

When the water is warm, clear, and calm, you barely need it. But when conditions turn, visibility drops, or confidence takes a hit, the shotline becomes your guide. It gives you confidence, a reference point. It helps you descend with purpose and return to safety without drifting off into the unknown.

That struck me as a pretty good metaphor for the work I do. When you are dealing with shifting conditions, unclear direction, or pressure from the environment, having a stable reference point matters. Shotline Advisory is about being alongside you in those moments, helping you move towards the objective, stay oriented, and surface safely with something valuable.

If you’ve never relied on a shotline before, the metaphor might seem unusual. But it’s been there for me when I needed it, and I hope this advisory practice can play the same role for you when the conditions demand it.

Who I work with

I work with CEOs, CxOs, Senior Leaders and Founders who are facing complex, high‑stakes situations: stalled projects, overloaded leadership, unclear strategy, demanding clients, or scaling challenges.

My background spans systems engineering, large‑scale programme delivery, commercial negotiations, and organisational growth in both the UK and US. I’ve led a global business unit and been part of an executive team, giving me first‑hand experience of the pressures and trade‑offs leaders face. That perspective shapes a calm, structured, and practical way of helping others navigate complexity.
